DMG Group LLC is a consulting practice founded by Simone Gbolo to support organizations, communities, and leaders working toward meaningful social impact.
The name DMG honors Simone's late mother, whose strength, wisdom, and legacy continue to inspire the work.
Our Approach
Most organizations we work with already hold what they need — the knowledge, the relationships, the commitment to the people they serve. Our work is to make that visible, structured, and durable. We don’t arrive with a template; we start by listening, and we build with you rather than for you.
Strategy that ignores the daily realities of staff, participants, and community members won’t survive contact with them. Before we recommend anything, we spend time understanding how the work actually happens — who carries it, what constrains it, and what the people closest to it already know.
Much of our work sits at intersections: institutions and communities, the United States and West Africa, research and practice. We translate across those lines so partnerships are genuinely reciprocal rather than extractive, and so every partner recognizes their own priorities in the result.
The measure of good consulting is what continues after the engagement ends. We design so your team owns the framework, can run it without us, and can adapt it as conditions change.
How we work
Listening sessions, stakeholder interviews, document review, and an honest read of where the organization actually stands.
Co-creating the program, strategy, or structure alongside the people who will carry it. Options and tradeoffs surfaced; decisions made together.
Implementation support, facilitation, and hands-on partnership through the difficult middle stretch where most plans stall.
Evaluation, documentation, and capacity transfer so the work holds after we step back.
A woven cloth holds because separate threads are brought into relationship. That’s the work — connecting people, institutions, and resources that are stronger together than apart.
Learning journeys, not tourist trips.
DMG Group designs and leads immersive learning journeys to Ghana, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Togo, and Benin for universities, foundations, student groups, corporate teams, and mission-driven organizations. Built on more than a decade of on-the-ground relationships across West Africa, these are not sightseeing tours — they are carefully structured experiences in history, culture, entrepreneurship, and social impact. Travelers leave not as visitors, but as learners who understand both the logistics and the soul of the region.
Tailored programs for universities, K-12 schools, foundations, corporate ERGs, and community organizations of any size.
Site visits and direct engagement with local entrepreneurs, cooperatives, and social enterprises — built on our flagship Ghana Social Entrepreneurship Immersion model.
Slave castles, cultural landmarks, and historical education woven thoughtfully into every itinerary — never treated as a checkbox stop.
Connect student groups with STEM Justice programming and local youth-serving initiatives across the region.
End-to-end coordination of travel, lodging, in-country partners, safety protocols, and translation/interpretation support.
Orientation sessions before travel and structured reflection sessions after, so the learning holds long after the trip ends.
Flagship destination: Ghana
Also available: Liberia | Sierra Leone | Togo | Benin
Inquire About a 2027 Immersion Trip“I have partnered with Simone Gbolo for more than four years, welcoming the groups she brings to Ghana for cultural and educational immersion. Simone is that rare leader who understands both the logistics and the soul of this work. She prepares her travelers to arrive not as tourists but as learners, and she builds experiences that honor Ghanaian people, history, and culture with genuine respect. Every group she has brought to us has left transformed. She is a trusted bridge between the United States and West Africa, and I recommend her without the slightest hesitation to any organization seeking meaningful global engagement.”

"For more than five years, Simone has been an invaluable partner to Global Mamas. She has helped us build meaningful relationships with the University of Minnesota's Humphrey School of Public Affairs and Carlson School of Management, connecting graduate students with consulting projects that address our organization's most pressing challenges. Beyond designing impactful projects, Simone has mentored and guided students to successfully implement their recommendations while working alongside our team in Ghana. Simone's commitment extends far beyond the classroom. She has become a trusted advisor to our leadership team, offering thoughtful guidance that strengthens our managers, builds organizational capacity, and helps us navigate complex challenges. Her ability to listen, understand the realities on the ground, and develop practical, solution-focused strategies has made her our first call when we face the political, economic, and cultural complexities of advancing our mission."

"I worked with Simone as she led the PPIA Program for over seven years, and her impact was undeniable. She grew the program's funding, deepened alumni engagement in ways her predecessors had not, and ran the operation with the discipline of a seasoned nonprofit executive. As an advisory council member, I worked alongside her to plan events that consistently exceeded expectations, and I came to rely on her as a strategic thought partner. Simone combines vision with execution—she doesn't just imagine what's possible, she builds it. Any organization would be fortunate to have her guidance."
"Simone Gbolo has been an absolute pleasure. Her expertise in project management and community impact is outstanding."
